Another First! ClearView Impanted by Dr. Malitz

Lenstec, Inc. (St. Petersburg, FL) is proud to announce today, that the first Indiana implantation of their newly FDA approved SBL-3 ClearViewTM Multifocal Intraocular lens (MIOL) were performed by David Malitz, MD of Ohio Valley Eye Institute (Evansville, IN).

The SBL-3 Clearview Multifocal is a next generation presbyopia correcting IOL design, that in FDA clinical trials provided patients with near, intermediate and distance vision, with reports of much lower visual disturbances than traditional MIOLs. Additionally, over 90% of patients achieved binocular visual acuities of 20/25 or better at all distances, as well as over 93% reported spectacle independence.

Dr. Malitz is among the leading implanters of the Lenstec brand.   He notes, Patients have reported high levels of satisfaction with minimal side effects with the monofocal lens and expectations are high for the same clinical experience with the SBL-3.  The SBL-3 ClearView MIOL promises to be an excellent option for refractive lens surgeons and patients seeking vision correction after cataract removal at all distances without the commonly noted halos and glare of other brands of multifocal and extended depth of focus lenses like the PanOptix (R), Synergy (R), Vivity (R), Restor (R) and Tecnis Multifocal (R).   While these alternative lenses have enabled thousands of patients to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses, the side effects can be problematic for some patients.

The technology is being rolled out to selected surgeons and we are proud to be one of the first in the nation selected to implement this new FDA approved technology.   Years of clinical trial and countless hours and studies have allowed Lenstec to compete in the growing presbyopia correction market.
