Triciasis

Triciasis in Evansville

Triciasis is a condition whereby eye lashes are misdirected and touch the eye. Triciasis can lead to irritation and even infections of the eye. The most common way to correct Triciasis is to epilate (pull) the lashes with forceps. Sometimes electrolysis can be used for Triciasis but using electrical energy by the eye can be dangerous. Freezing treatment can also be used as well as splitting the lid and excising the follicles of the misdirected lashes.

Triciasis can sometimes be caused by blepharitis. Scales on the base of the lashes can misdirect the lashes. Triciasis can be treated in Evansville, IN by Dr. David Malitz. Triciasis treatment is considered surgery but is generally done in the office with no sedation required.
